Castlevania Lords of Shadow

Now I know castlevania Lords of shadow hasn't been many peoples favorite entry in the series but I honestly really loved it. Most people write this off as a God of War clone, and they are pretty much right although this game actually manages to be great God of War clone. The Epic scale of the Boss fights, the extensive combat system and the intriguing story.

The story follows Gabrial Belmont a knight of the brotherhood of Light who quests to defeat the lords of Shadow, gather the pieces of the gods mask, and mend the ties between heaven and earth, as well as find a way to resurrect his murdered wife. But soon realizes a bigger conspiracy at hand( even though the quest in of itself is huge enough as it is.). I really fell in love with the story, so well told and really there were curve balls I really didn't see coming. Also I also love that there are dead corpse you come upon which has scrolls that chronicle their last moments, tremendously heart felt and gruesome as well as dropping serious hints as to the enemies you'll face. Also I love the inclusion of various folk tales and legends such as Alibaba and Pan. I absolutely adore this story.

Gamplay wise the game borrows heavily from several sources, most evidently God of war and shadow of the colossus( Mostly in terms of boss fights). And this game pulls off this segments very well with an extensive combat system although admitidly there are only a few combos you'll need to get through. There are also several puzzles that actually managed to test my brain as I had to look up the answers from youtube( Im kind of ashamed of that fact). The Boss Fights are pretty varied as it could be a straight one on one duel to shadow of the colossus type fights, all very exciting. For what it was trying to imitate the gameplay was pretty solid. not revolutionary but solid ninth less, but the camera was pretty annoying

Overall the game was a pretty good treat, not the castlevania game people wanted but still a pretty fun game nontheless. Even though the majority of the game doesn't feel like castlevania, one section really does feel like castlevania, which so happens to be the only level with an actual castle as the setting. There are other factors like graphics and pacing and theme I didn't go over because, this is Deviantart not Reviewart, although in the future I would like to make my own series of art works to go along with reviews of movies, games and shows that I want to make a review about.
